What the heck is the Lunar Market?

It is a fundraiser in the form of a pop-up makers market (similar to events such as FAD Market, BUST Craftacular, and Brooklyn Flea). Vendors are in charge of setting up their own table and display. The goal of the Lunar Market is to raise $10,000 for Charles B Wang Community Health Center, a non-profit federally qualified health center that provides comprehensive and high-quality health care services to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. Just by participating as a vendor, you are contributing to our fundraising goal!

When will the Lunar Market take place?

  • Saturday, February 10, 2018: 11am - 6pm
  • Sunday, February 11, 2018: 11am - 5pm

Where will the Lunar Market take place?

The pop-up makers market will take place in Artists & Fleas' Activation Space in Soho on the corner of Broadway & Prince St. The Activation Space is another section of their retail location that is reserved specifically for events. The vendors tabling within the Lunar Market will not be mixed in with the vendors in their main space. The event space itself will be decorated accordingly to fit the theme of celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year.

This is a great opportunity for vendors to test out the Soho location without having to commit to a long term space rental.

Do you have to be of Asian descent to participate in the Lunar Market?

Nope! While we want to to highlight Asian American artisans and highlight how Asian cultures have inspired others in their work, this is an open event. The doors at the Charles B Wang Community Health Center are open to everyone, and anyone who is interested in being a part of this event, interested in giving back to our community is welcomed to apply! 

What are the vendor fees?

  • $300/weekend
  • $175/day
  • $20/table rental for the weekend
  • $5/chair rental for the weekend

This is a non-profit event. 50% of the vendor fees are donated to Charles B Wang Community Health Center. The remaining money goes to organizing the event.

How many vendors are you planning to have?

We plan on featuring a curated selection of 15-20 vendors each day.

What is the closing reception?

As a thank you to our sponsors, vendors and donors, there will be a private reception to wrap up our event. While our sponsors and vendors are automatically invited to the reception, additional guests will need to donate $25 or more to Charles B Wang Community Health Center to gain entry.

Guests will be treated to a complimentary sake tasting sponsored by SOTO sake, mochi tasting sponsored by mochidoki, as well as drinks & snacks sponsored by Tsingtao Beer, Apple Sidra and Hi-Chew. There will also be a raffle contest where guests will have a chance to win some of the beautiful products from our talented vendors.

Can you tell me more about the raffle contest?

The raffle contest will take place during the closing reception. There will be many different prizes that can be won, all of which have been kindly donated to us from our vendors. All guests will be given one complimentary raffle ticket, and can purchase more at the reception for $5 each. All the proceeds made from the raffle contest will be donated to Charles B Wang Community Health Center.
